LEGAL LAW INTERNSHIP

AGV Sports Group strives to provide its legal interns with a stimulating and diversified experience. Performing a variety of duties, from researching to drafting legal memoranda and briefs, interns will gain vital practical knowledge needed to be successful in a real world environment. The intern will gain experience working within a business, rather than a firm. The internship will grant knowledge of the inner workings of a business and the legal issues that are associated with the company. AGV Sports Group offers a bona fide internship experience that will not only prepare you for today's job market, but will transform you into an asset for any company YOU choose to work for. This is not an internship that consists of atypical grunt work, but hands on experience through direction and personal management.

The best legal internship will allow you to gain real-world experience in a legal setting, and it ideally will include exposure to the kind of legal setting in which you want to work. In some cases, an internship is required for students graduating from legal secretarial or paralegal schools and law schools. Among the legal internships available are summer clerkships, judicial internships, legal clinics and programs that allow you to perform work pro bono, or free. In addition to gaining experience, consider what else you hope to get from an internship. Some internships will allow you to earn school credit. Some pay, and others do not. The best legal internship will be about which company will provide the better path towards your chosen profession, and AGV Sports Group can provide that for you.

Duties Include:

• Work on internal business cases and problems
• Assist with court filings, document preparation, and case management
• Law research, client meetings, and general case management
• Will engage in fields such as Intellectual Property, Business Law, Business Affairs, Government Affairs, Immigration Law, Public Relations, and Products Liability
• Research and Memo writing
• Working with a client rather than in a firm
• Ability to take your own initiative
• Dealing with internal business affairs
• Work with other law interns in a collaborative group

Qualifications:

• Ideal for any person interested in law; whether it is for private practice, non-profit, wanting to pursue the practice of law, or just has an interest in law.
• Must have interest and/or knowledge of U.S. law
• Need organization skills and particular attention to detail
• Detail oriented and organized with a positive attitude
• Strong interpersonal skills and excellent writing skills
• Experience with research using computers and databases

Length Requirement:
The position is open for as long as the student would like, but with a minimum length of 12 weeks, 21 to 35 hours/week.

Specifications:
This position is open to students enrolled at any college/university or graduate, looking for real world experience. The students’ interests must lie in the field of law.

College Credit:
While this is an UNPAID internship, student interns will have the opportunity to receive college credits. Contact your undergraduate advising officer for more information on academic credit.
