How we got started!

Warren Bales, then a tuner of Corvair rally cars, decided to branch out into the motorcycle business.  Soon his business outgrew the little garage and was moved into the new store on highway 68 just north of Xenia in the mid 60’s.

AGVSPORT Editorial Quotes

What people are saying about AGVSPORT products! :)

Tempest Jacket:

WebBikeWorld.com: “AGV Sport has an excellent worldwide reputation, because you’re buying an established brand that has years of experience and a strong following.  All of this makes the Tempest jacket a solid choice. But the jacket has one big Ace up its sleeve, so to speak — when the very reasonable $200.00 list price is factored in, the Tempest also becomes an excellent value.”

Motorcycle Cruiser: “There are several far more complicated jackets hanging in my closet, and they’ll probably stay there a while because I prefer the Tempest: it’s got comfort, protection, venting and water resistance – all for a pair of Benjamin’s”

Telluride jacket:

Ultimate Motorcycling: “Appearing deceptively simple, the AGV Sport Telluride jacket is seriously adaptable to conditions ranging from 100 degrees plus to chilly rain.”

Solare jacket:

Motorcyclist magazine: “And the best part? Just look at that price….”

Cruiser Magazine: “If you want basic, lightweight yet protective gear for those unbearable slogs through triple digit hear, the Solare fits the bill.”

Laguna textile jacket:

SuperStreetBike magazine: “The Laguna is a modern twist on the traditional racer look. Titanium shoulder caps complete the go-fast design.”

Laguna one piece suit

TrackDayMag.com “Usually, it would be preposterous to claim that a new set of leathers might make you faster but in this case, the ease of movement and superior ventilation of the Laguna really do make a noticeable difference.  You’ll run faster laps, feel less fatigue and stay at your peak level of performance for a longer period.  With all that considered, the AGV Sport Laguna is a bargain.”

Motorcyclist Magazine: “Comfortable, quality sport-riding leathers at an affordable price.”

Monza one piece suit

TrackDayMag.com “Having thoroughly inspected and track tested the AGV Sport Monza 1-piece suit, we have to declare it a major bargain.”

Willow one piece suit

WebBikeWorld.com: “The AGV Sport Willow suit is a high-quality protective garment that looks good and feels comfortable. In this price range, I’m not sure you can beat it for off-the-rack features and fit.”

Pella leather jacket

Motorcycle USA.com: “I’m a die-hard fan of leather jackets. I also like traditional black styling. I appreciate AGV Sport for making a jacket that meets these criteria and is wearable during hot summer months without roasting riders alive.”

MotoUSA magazine: “There are not many black leather jackets you can wear comfortably during the summer. Leather does not breathe well and black absorbs heat. The AGV Sport Pella perforated leather jacket breaks this misconception.”

Topanga leather jackets

Rider Magazine: “While it may be cool weather now, come spring you’ll be searching for a warm-weather riding jacket. When this happens, we would suggest you consider one of the AGV Sport Topanga jackets.”

Moda ladies leather jacket

MotorcycleUSA.com: “I love the jacket’s snug fit and attractive styling. It offers a decent amount of protection in its combination of durable leather and strategically placed padding. I definitely think it’s worth the $249 sticker price.”

Telluride glove

Scoot! Magazine: “The overall construction of the glove is impressive….they are worth every penny….”

Willow glove

WebBikeWorld.com: “Just like the Willow suit, the word “value” comes to mind because there’s a lot of it to be had here for the $80.00 or so you’ll spend on the Willow gloves, which is actually a bargain price when it comes to race-type gloves.

Mayhem glove

Super Streetbike magazine: “vented carbon fiber knuckles with reinforced palms at a great price”

Laguna glove

Sport Rider magazine: “We found the Laguna gloves very comfortable, control feel is excellent, protection feels ample but where the Laguna glove really shines is in ventilation.”

Alliance backpack

AllAboutBikes.com “What a really cool idea this backpack from AGV Sport is.”

Venus leather jacket

WebBikeWorld.com: “The AGV Sport Venus Leather Jacket is another fine example of a well-made, armored leather jacket designed specifically for women.”

Kevlar pants

MotoUSA: “After a summer’s worth of abuse, the Assault pants have passed the tests – rugged, durable, stylish, with plenty of pocket space. And they passed the crash test – all for $99 bucks!”

AGVSPORT Telluride

“Mountain Breeze”

By: Don Williams, Ultimate Motorcycling

While AGV Sport gave this jacket the Telluride moniker, it is far from a cool mountain friend.  Riding it through the unforgiving Sonoran Desert in the summer, one would expect that only a mesh or perforated jacket would do.  However, the ballistic nylon Telluride works magic with its venting to flow the air through in a highly effective manner.

AGV Sport’s secret is in the YKK-zippered vents over your collarbones with soft scoops that direct huge amounts of air into the jacket.  As speeds increase, the scoops open wider and more air flows through.  It is not effective at slow speeds; the Telluride is definitely touring apparel.  To exhaust the air efficiently, there are dual closable vertical vents at ribcage height in the back.

As temperatures drop, closing the Telluride’s vents makes a large difference, as does tightening up the Velcro-closures on the wrists.  When that is not enough, a very warm quilted liner can be installed.

It is never easy to put a liner in, though AGV Sport gets it close on the Telluride.  The primary torso portion zips in.  Then, six button/elastic-loop couplers—two at each wrist, plus two at your lower back—are conjoined.  Once in, the liner keeps the rider warm into the 40s at freeway speeds.  When not in use, it can be stored for quick access in a compartment on the lower back of the jacket.

Rain is held at bay by the waterproof and breathable Reissa membrane that is part of the main jacket’s construction.  While we did not test the Telluride in a heavy rainstorm, it worked as advertised in light rain.  The jacket can be zipped to a pair of AGV Sport’s equally adaptable Telluride pants.

Fit is outstanding.  The Telluride jacket feels immediately comfortable and never chafed or bound during the testing, which included a 400-mile maiden voyage.  The sizing is spot on, and a number of Velcro tabs and various heavy-duty IRC buttons allow for exact customization of the fit.  Soft, pliable armor on the shoulders, elbows, and back allows the jacket to conform to the rider, though at a trade-off of serious impact protection.

Cargo storage is plentiful, with a few nooks and crannies.  There are four large snapping pockets from midway down, two of them large enough to carry the matching Telluride winter gloves if you’re riding on a day that will also call the AGV Sport Mayhem summer gloves into service.  The Mayhem and Telluride dovetail nicely, with neither encroaching on the other’s climate control.

Four additional zippered compartments—two large side-entry on the chest, an inside phone/wallet space, plus one small pocket on the left forearm—make room for almost everything.

Appearing deceptively simple, the AGV Sport Telluride jacket is seriously adaptable to conditions ranging for 100+ degrees to chilly rain.
